As an archaeologist based in London, I often seek family-friendly spots that bridge the gap between relaxation and exploration, and the Boatshed exceeded our expectations during our four-night stay. We splurged on the Penthouse suite, and while it may have been pricier, the stunning views of Mt Maunganui made it worthwhile. The wrap-around balcony was a perfect evening perch for stargazing after our daytime excursions. The kitchen, equipped with essentials and a view from the window, allowed us to prepare meals while enjoying the scenery. For family activities, we took a brisk 20-minute walk to the summit-a hit with the kids, bringing us closer to nature. The proximity of the beach and local amenities was a plus, as we explored the sandy shores on sunny afternoons. Rochelle, the manager, was genuinely welcoming, enhancing our stay with her insightful recommendations. Clean, well-presented, and equipped with comfortable beds, the Boatshed became a home away from home for our family.
